2015 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event
Jacob Frye is a 2017 SS/LHP/2B with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from Cartersville, GA who attends Woodland HS. Medium frame, slender build with room to fill out, projects well physically. Left handed hitter, wide base with high back elbow set. Flashed good hand quickness and solid bat speed. Feel for using the barrel, solid line-drive swing plane with ability to use the entire field. Hit will in games, showed measured approach and ability to handle offspeed pitches well. Should continue to improve with further incorporation of lower half in swing mechanics. Can throw with both hands, but worked out in the infield--throwing righthanded--at this event. Solid footwork and moves well to the ball, softer hands with smooth, clean transfer. Ball comes out of hand quickly, solid and accurate throws to target. Very good student.
