2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Brad Long is a 2006 RHP/OF who is home schooled and lives in Hampton, Georgia, with a 6'3'', 180 lb. frame. He is a strong and lean player with long limbs. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a balanced delivery and a short arm circle on the back side. Long's fastball has natural cutting action in on the hands of right handed hitters at 83 mph. His best secondary pitch is his change up that he throws at 76 mph. Long gets good action on his deceptive change up with sink and fade, and maintains his arm speed on the pitch. He also mixes in a small and tight slider at 77 mph, and a 70 mph curveball. Long has good control of his pitches, and has good upside on the mound. At the plate he hits with a no stride approach. He has good bat speed and gets leverage at contact. Long is a possible two-way prospect, and is a good student as well.
