Cameron Clonch is a 2020 1B/LHP, OF with a 6-4 185 lb. frame from Mooresville, NC who attends Mooresville. Extra-large, athletic frame with square shoulders and long limbs, lean and projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary first baseman, fields the ball out front and shows softness to hands, loose and easy arm stroke through the back and shows comfort working to multiple release points, ball comes out cleanly from hand with present carry, sound footwork off the bag. Also pitched, begins on the third base side of the rubber, side step moving into a high leg lift up above belt; does a nice job of staying on line with lower half down the mound. Loose and quick arm action through the back, creates angle at release from high three-quarters release point. Fastball topped out at 87 mph with short sinking life down in the zone and flashed a curveball at 73 mph. Lefthanded hitter, begins with a high hand set and back elbow in the box; utilizes a short stride with lower half moving into contact. Upper body dominant swing, timing components to load with a full path, does a nice job of creating extension out front at point of contact. Shows feel for the barrel and carry coming off to the pull side when squared up. Two-way potential. Very good student. Verbal commitment to East Carolina.
