Matthew Sauer is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-4 192 lb. frame from Santa Maria, CA who attends Ernest Righetti HS. Long and lean athletic build, very projectable physically. Long arm action in back, whippy arm coming through with good extension out front, has some deception in his delivery. Fastball topped out at 92 mph, creates good angle and plane to the plate and can work his fastball to both sides, gets arm side running action. Slider is a solid pitch, gets swing/miss on his slider with sharp late biting action. Curveball is a softer get me over pitch at present. Showed some developing feel for his change up. Has the ability to pitch and has a mature arsenal to attack hitters. Showed some strength as a right handed hitter with a mid field approach and some bat speed. Good student, verbal commitment to Arizona.
