2006 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Ryan Leach is a 2007 RHP/SS from East Rutherford HS in Kings Mountain, NC with a 5'11", 175 lb. frame. Ryan was one of the top players at the showcase and has verballed early to North Carolina. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with little effort and clean mechanics. Ryan has a very good feel for his fastball and gets alot of life on the ball. His curveball showed outstanding bite from a 12 to 6 slot. Ryan's polish will help separate him from other pitchers and should help him contribute early in college. He shows present strength in his swing with good bat speed and can drive the baseball to all parts of the field. He is an aggressive hitter that does not get cheated at the plate. Defensively Ryan was a very clean fielder, but seemed to hold back on his throws. Ryan will be a player that is heard about for the next several years.
