Ricardo Alfonso is a 2018 LHP with a 6-1 165 lb. frame from Caguas, PR who attends Puerto Rico BB Academy. Nice athletic build, projects well physically. Standard side step/leg raise delivery, long and loose arm action with an early high takeaway, shows the ball in back, repeats his mechanics well. Mid-70's fastball, gets good cutting action on his fastball and works to both sides of the plate. Rare slider was used to back door right handed hitters, has some depth and he needs to use it more. Relied heavily on his fastball. Should continue to improve as he gets stronger and learns how to mix his pitches. Good student.
