Javier Acevedo is a 2019 RHP/1B with a 6-2 200 lb. frame from Aguadilla, PR who attends Juan Suarez Pelegrina. Large frame with strong, sturdy build. Righthanded pitcher, gets downhill well and engages lower half, deception to delivery from torso rotation, hides the ball well and releases from three quarters slot, fastball worked 85-88 mph with very good arm side life, was able to miss several bats on the fastball alone. Slider worked in the low-mid 70's with slurvy, sharp break, playing well off the fastball and showing the ability to miss bats down in the zone. Good student, named to 2019 World Showcase Top Prospect List. Signed with Garden City CC.
