Justin Boyd is a 2019 SS/OF with a 6-1 175 lb. frame from Parker, CO who attends Legend. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Projects to add strength while maintaining athleticism. Ran a 6.86 sixty-yard dash. Primary shortstop with smooth, athletic footwork while ranging to and surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling from a slightly deeper position and works through exchanges very quickly. Primarily released from a compact three-quarters arm slot but flashed the ability to throw on the run from multiple slots with accuracy. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing fundamental footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Compact arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters slot produced stiff, on line carry. Right handed hitter with an upright, even stance and simple leg lift trigger. Shifts into contact well with linear actions. Direct, lifted plane through extension with present bat speed. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice to the middle of the field showing good jump off the barrel. Very good student. Committed to Oregon State.
