Matthew Rudick is a 2017 OF/LHP with a 5-9 160 lb. frame from San Diego, CA who attends Scripps Ranch HS. Shorter athletic build with room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, deep hand load, swings hard and has some bat speed, handles the barrel well and hits line drives to all fields, projects has a hitter with additional strength. Sound fundamentals in the outfield, good footwork with on line accurate throws. Runs well and plays with energy on defense and on the bases, 6.98 at the SS West Showcase in June. Also pitched, low effort delivery with a long loose arm action, extended 3/4's arm slot, repeats his delivery well with good balance. Fastball topped out at 83 mph with consistent tailing life, best pitch is his change up with good arm speed and nice sinking life. Threw strikes and kept the ball down in the zone. Skilled player with a good approach to the game. Good student.
