John Gavin is a 2014 LHP with a 6-5 240 lb. frame from San Jose, CA who attends St Francis. XL frame, strong physical build. Pitches from a three quarter arm slot with a long arm action. Uses length well to create downhill plane, pitches from the 3B side of the rubber, pitched inside aggressively to right handed hitters. Delivery creates torque and leverage, good extension, fastball tails hard to the arm side. Good depth on curveball, sweeping 1-7 break, changeup sinks. Good lefty move to first base. Good defensive first baseman as well, swung the bat very aggressively. Good student, verbal commitment to Cal State Fullerton. Named to top prospect list.
