2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Todd is a 2005 grad from Cupertino High School in Cupertino California. He stands 5'10" and 170 pounds with a medium frame and build with some room for added muscle in the future. Todd is a good two way prospect as an outfielder and left handed pitcher. He shows good speed in the outfield and with his arm strength and instincts should be able to excel defensively at all three spots. At the plate, Todd hits out of a balanced base with a easy swing that shows good use of his hands and good acceleration to contact. He is an aggressive, hustling type of player who coaches like to hit near the top of the line up. On the mound Todd throws from a standard 3/4's arm slot with some good arm speed, an aggressive, quick delviery and an idea of the strike zone. His fastball has good velocity at 85 mph and he also throws a 67 mph curveball and 71 mph change up. We like Todd better as a position prospect right now but you can't discount southpaws who throw 85 mph because there aren't that many of them. College coaches who recruit Todd as an outfielder will certainly note this. Todd is also and excellent student.
