Kiko Garcia is a 2014 RHP with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends St Augustine HS. Medium athletic build, some present strength. Slow paced back turn delivery, throws under control with acceleration to the plate at release, uses his lower 1/2 very well, high 3/4's arm slot, arm works well coming through. Upper 80's fastball, topped out at 91 mph, mostly straight, spots fastball to both sides of the plate and stays down in the zone. Curveball flashes good spin, best bite and effectiveness is with short, tight break, throws strikes with curveball, should be able to develop both a bigger curveball and a true slider, rare change up. Has an idea how to pitch, improvement of off speed pitches will determine ceiling. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to Pepperdine.
