2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Reed Woytek is a 6'0/165 2005 SS/P from Round Rock, TX. Woytek is a legit two-way Division I prospect as a middle infielder and a right handed pitcher. We’ve seen him frequently in WWBA tournaments and he performs at a high level in games as well as in showcases, and we’re not going to cast him in one role or the other right now. On the mound, Woytek has four solid pitches, a simple, quick, repeatable delivery and a very advanced idea on how to pitch. His fastball was steady at 86-87 mph and he threw two different breaking balls that had quality spin in a 72 mph curveball and 78 mph slider. The curveball is somewhat of a sweeper, but the break is sharp and the slider is a potential strikeout pitch. Woytek also mixed in a 75 mph change up. As a position prospect, Woytek is very solid across the board, with no real weak area. He has good hand strength and generates good bat speed with a short, pull line drive approach. Woytek makes all the plays at shortstop and combines his arm strength with a very quick release. He has nice hands, runs well, and projects to hit with power. Reed is a very good student and a highest level player.
