Raymond Allen is a strong athletic 2005 MIF/3B from Longwood, FL. At 6'2" he has top level college tools that could well develop into professional level tools over the next few years. He has good present strength, especially in his upper body, but is still very projectable and looks like he could become a 6'2", 195 lb. third baseman with normal development. Allen is a very good runner with close to average big league speed. His actions on defense are very smooth and easy and his arm strength is close to big league average with good on-line carry. At the plate, Allen sets up in a tall, balanced stance with little load or stride. He has very good hand strength and hand speed and really whips the bat head through the zone. He projects very good power potential down the road and can already turn on a ball hard now with wood. Overall, Allen doesn’t have a weak spot that we saw in his game and he’s going to keep getting better.
