Raiko Alfonso is a 2008 MIF with a 5'10'', 180 lb. frame from Key West, FL who attends Key West HS. He has a compact, strong, build, especially in the lower half. Alfonso can play shortstop but he's playing more and more second base and is a natural at that position. He has very nice athletic balance and superb hands and feel for the ball. He gets rid of the ball extremely quickly on double plays. Alfonso is a switch hitter and has developed much more power than we ever projected him to have. He has a very aggressive swing from both sides of the plate, with a bit more bat speed and lift in his swing from the left side. He's a threat to hit for extra bases from both sides, though, and we've even seen him go deep both ways in the same game with wood. His bat just keeps getting better. Alfonso is a yard rat who loves to play and plays hard and confidently.
