Nickolaus Martinez is a 2006 third baseman/catcher from Dade Christian HS in Hialeah, FL, with a 6'0", 196 lb. frame. He has a strong and compact body that should be durable behind the plate. Martinez has very good arm strength with on-line throws that were accurate. He also has quickness behind the plate that helped him pop several times under 2.00 with 1.93 being his best. Offensively he is a right handed hitter with a crouched stance and a no stride approach. Martinez has a powerful swing and drives the ball with consistency. His compact swing and power bat helped record a ball 92 mph off his bat during a showcase game. Martinez projects to be a middle of the order run producer at the next level, and still be able to handle a pitching staff and help control an opposing team's running game. He is a must follow and is a good student as well.
