Nick Spears is a strong bodied 6'2/195 2005 catcher from Austin, TX, who looks like he’s worked hard on his body and conditioning. He moves well behind the plate and showed a very strong throwing arm and the ability to get below 2.00 on his pop times. Spears, a switch hitter, hits from a tall, no stride approach with high hands held tight and high by his head. He tends to cut off his swing, but had some very good game at bats, making solid hard contact especially when given the opportunity to pull the ball. Spears looks like he has the potential to be a real solid college catcher with good skills and physical tools across the board.
