Michael Onwumere is a very athletic 6-1, 190 lb senior outfielder from Toronto who strongly resembles Andre Dawson, even down to the running style. He has the potential to be a top level defensive outfielder. Onwumere's throws have very good accuracy and carry and he has a quick release. He has 6.92 speed and can track fly balls down as well. He doesn't have as good of speed down to first base, usually around 4.50, because he gets out of the box slowly, but he's a very good and powerful runner underway. Onwumere is raw and developing as a hitter, although he definitely has the strength to improve. Onwumere has some bat head skills and makes consistent contact, he just hasn't learned to take advantage of his natural strength to create bat speed and power. A coach with some patience could have a big reward here and Onwumere could develop into an exciting prospect. He plays hard and enjoys playing.
