2004 National Underclass Dec 28-30
Michael Vecchi is a 2006 1B/RHP from Daytona Beach Shore, Florida, with a big, strong, 6'4", 230 lb. frame. Offensively he is a right handed hitter with a balanced swing and a line drive swing plane. Vecchi takes a negative stride and uses a reverse toe tap trigger like Sammy Sosa. He has hand movement at the plate, but he gets his hands to the ball well with good bat speed. Vecchi swings the bat hard and has some present raw power, and with a little more lift in his swing he could be a big power guy. Vecchi also pitched at the event. He pitched two separate times combining for 8 strikeouts in 4 innings. He has a high leg kick with funky arm action and is very deceptive. Vecchi throws strikes and gets some run on his fastball that topped out at 81 mph. He also mixed in a curveball at 65 mph. Vecchi is a solid two way prospect with power potential at the plate. He is also a good student.
