2004 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Jonathan is a 2005 grad from Eastlake High School in Chula Vista California and stands 6'3/185 with a lean, wirry build. He has a very good athletic and potentially strong body to add more muscle and be a physical player. On the mound, Jonathan shows you a low 3/4's arm slot with good sinking action to his 83-85 mph fastball. He has an aggressive delivery and throws strikes with all of his pitches. Jonathan throws a splitter for a change up at 74-75 mph and it shows some nice sinking action. His curveball is a bit soft at 67-69 but he commands it well. He is a potential two-way prospect at the next level. At the plate he shows raw strength, runs the bases well and shows a good 60 time (7.08) that transfers to his game. Jonathan has good bat speed and can hit crisp hard line drives that will reach the fences easily. His athletic ability should also give him the ability to play in the outfield should a college coach want him there. Overall, Jonathan is a potential power college bat with ability to pitch at the next level. He is a solid student as well.
