LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
John Tolisano is a 2007 switch-hitting shortstop, capable of playing all three infield positions. He is home schooled and resides in Sanibel, FL. Tolisano has a compact, strong and athletically proportioned 6'0" 190 lb. frame. One of the premier talents in the nation, he ranked #4 among the 2006 PG National Top 100 position players. From both sides of the plate Tolisano showed his power and ability to make hard barrel contact. He is a middle of the order bat. From the right side he hits from a slightly open stance and hits with rhythm and feel. His swing is easy as he produces plus bat speed and easy power as the ball jumps off his bat. His swing plane is pretty flat and at his best his line drives carry in the gaps, while his mistakes leave the yard. From the left side he is also slightly open and frankly not too different from the right side. He works to keep his hands inside the ball and with his plus hands and hand speed, he produces easy loft type power, particularly to the pull side. On defense Tolisano displays quiet and smooth actions and sets up to the ball very well. He has soft hands and receives the ball well in his glove in a relaxed manner. Tolisano moves to the ball well and has an above average arm, up to 87 mph across the diamond. He releases the ball from a lower slot when he has time. His arm and playmaking abilities appeared better when he had to react rather versus having time to see the play developing. A strong athlete, he ran 4.06 home/1st from the left side and posted 6.81 60 yard time. He will have his pick of colleges to commit to and at this point looks bound for the very upper rounds of the 2007 draft.
