2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Friedman is a short and compact 5-8, 170 lb catcher from Virginia. He ran the 60 in 7.66 on the slow track and threw 77 mph in workouts with a best pop time of 1.92. During games Friedman showed us solid college level skills. He’s a hustling type of player shows very good quickness behind the plate and likes to take charge. Friedman threw one runner out with a 2.03 game pop, was 2.06 on another and was consistently quick on his releases. Friedman’s defense is ahead of his offense at this point but he shows some promise with the bat when he stays balanced. He hits out of a narrow stance with a long stride and tends to commit to the ball early. Friedman has some had strength and bat quickness and just needs to shorten his approach and trust his hands more to improve as a hitter. He is also a very good student who should qualify immediately for most schools. He can play!
