Jared Leeds is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Port St. Lucie, Florida, with a strong 6'0", 190 lb. frame. Leeds has a compact body, and throws from a 3/4 arm slot with very good arm speed. His fastball topped out at 86 mph, and he worked from 80-85 during his three innings of work. Leeds got some good arm side life on his fastball, and threw what looked like a split finger fastball around 78 mph. He had solid command of his split finger, as well as his curveball that had tightness at times from 67-68 mph. Leeds was inconsistent with his release point on the curveball, but it showed promise. Leeds struck out 5 batters in his three innings on the mound, and his last two innings were very good. He is a good college prospect.
