2003 Sunshine West Showcase
McDonald is a young 2005 grad catcher who showed a little of everything for our scouts. He threw well for his age, popped as quick as a 2.09 and he showed some good footwork at the catching position. He has a good build and nice arm action for a catcher. As he gets stronger he could be a real good catch and throw guy to watch. He is a switch hitter with potential for being very effective at it. We liked his left-handed swing best right now but his right side was not much behind. He showe some bat-speed, patience at the plate and on more than one occasion, a good looking inside out swing, taking the ball the other way versus live pitching. He is a good looking '05 prospect that we think is going to make a lot of noise next year. Good student.
