Evan Stobbs-Bultema is a 2007 right hand hitting corner infielder from Sarasota HS, residing in Myakka City, FL. He is a physically mature player with a physical 6'3" 210 lb. frame. Stobbs-Bultema is the kind of player you have to see when he is in his comfort zone, where his power and raw hitting ability show the best. As it was, he ranked #87 among PG National Top 100 position players, though one of our scouts saw him better later in the summer. Stobbs-Bultema hits from a square stance and has quite a quiet approach to hitting. His lower half provides a very sound base and he swings with excellent balance, generating good bat speed and acceleration through contact. His hands work well, they are strong and make a nice path through the ball. Stobbs-Bultema has good present day power and hits the ball hard from gap to gap, with power to the middle of the field. His swing is both short and powerful, meaning that he will hit for average and power. In the field he showed soft hands and nice feel for defense. His arm is average across diamond though he did show 88 on mound. For most teams he is likely a 1st baseman but he looks capable of being an adequate 3rd baseman, if you are not expecting much range. He should get big attention by D1 programs that want to get an aluminum bat in his hands and will also get some pro attention because of his present day raw power and sound hitting ability.
