Brice is 2006 right handed pitcher from Georgia with a medium framed 6-0 athletic body. He cruised through 4 innings of work in Fort Myers, retiring 12 out of 13 hitters, with one hitter reaching on an infield error. Brice throws from a mid ¾’s release point with some cross body action and recoil that didn’t affect his command but probably takes an edge off his stuff. His fastball was mostly in the 82-84 mph range and fairly straight and Brice did a nice job pounding the strike zone with this pitch. His curveball was 63-66 mph with loose spin and is the primary victim of his delivery. Better extension out front would improve the spin and velocity. Brice also threw a couple of change ups that looked like some sort of knuckleball/split finger derivative. Overall, Brice has a good idea of how to pitch, some arm strength and the potential to improve in a couple of areas. He’s a good one to watch for the colleges, especially since he’s an outstanding student.
