Matthew Sy is a 2025 OF/RHP with a 5-6 140 lb. frame from La Mirada, CA. Features a smaller build with some athleticism present. Ran a 7.59 60-yard dash. Worked out on the infield and in the outfield. Caught the ball well in the outfield. Showcases some athleticism throughout the fielding action. Throws from a lower slot arm action. Athleticism worked well on the dirt. Showed some range in both directions. Caught the ball consistently. Still developing overall arm strength. Switch hitters. Utilizes an even base with a toe tap timing mechanism. Mirrors the setup form both sides. Stays balanced throughout swings. Linear path sprayed balls to all parts from the right side. Showed good barrel feel on that side. Looks to drive balls in the air to the pullside from the left side. More power should come as the frame continues to develop. Right-handed pitcher. Throws exclusively out of the stretch. Stays balanced down the mound. Throws using a longer arm action. The fastball sat 64-68 mph with some sinking action. Paired it with a big breaking curveball in the lower-50’s. Shows decent shape on the offering. Still developing ability to land it for strikes consistently. Very good student.
