Gian De Castro is a 2024 3B/1B with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Weston, FL who attends North Broward Prep. Large, broad shouldered frame with athleticism and present strength proportioned throughout build. Primary third baseman, fields it out front with two hands, shorter steps on the approach, ball comes out of hand cleanly with plenty of strength and carry across the diamond. Moves well around the first base bag as well, shows similar footwork as third base with balance and coordination, turns well with balance, big arm strength across the diamond. Left-handed hitter, begins with a square stance in the box, high and tight hand set with high back elbow; incorporates physical strength well into swing, gets the barrel through the zone. Impacts the ball with authority to the pull side, can implement more lift into swing path, shows strength plays to opposite field gap as well, consistent hard contact off of the barrel. Very good student.
