Champ Artigues is a 2018 SS/2B with a 5-9 165 lb. frame from Hammond, LA who attends St Thomas Aquinas HS. Has a medium frame, square shoulders, and a lean build. Posted a 7.03 second sixty yard dash. From the infield, showed deliberate actions while fielding with solid arm strength on throws across. At the plate, left-handed hitter that starts with a slightly open stance and wide base. Swings on a line drive swing plane with natural lift through the point of contact, solid weight shift through lower half. Has hand speed while staying loose, good feel for the barrel, keeps it simple and repeats well. Uses a middle to opposite field approach and makes consistent contact. Excellent student.
