Clay Dalton is a 2009 1B/P with a 6'3'', 185 lb. frame from Kennesaw, GA who attends North Cobb HS. He has a tall, athletic build with good proportions and very good strength potential. Dalton is a quality athlete who is also a pitching prospect and can do everything pretty much but run. At the plate, Dalton has a long, whippy swing from an open balanced stance and has very good bat speed. He tends to pull off the ball but stayed on the ball very well for a power approach and made consistent solid contact during games and BP. His contact is mostly line drive to the gaps but there's more power in there. He's a good looking hitter with projection. Dalton is agile and quick around first base and showed soft hands and very good arm strength for the position. He also pitches and threw a steady 85-86 mph from the mound with a simple delivery and quick, efficient arm action. We didn't see a breaking ball or he might have ranked even better as a pitcher. Dalton has a lot of tools to develop and should be followed carefully.
