2021 WWBA Workout Showcase (July 14)
Alejandro Quiles is a 2022 3B/C with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Guanica, PR who attends Pro Baseball High School Academy. Recorded a 7.31 second sixty-yard dash time. Large frame with long levers, a high waist and some lean muscle throughout. Primary third baseman with a fundamentally sound defensive skill set, present arm strength and clean glove actions. Displayed some lateral range to either side, good reaction movements and the ability to make the routine plays looks fairly easy. Recorded arm strength up to 86 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary catcher that receives from a slightly side-saddled stance with soft hands and direct, inline transfers to throw. Gains ground his target out of the crouch, stays inline direction for the most part and shows accuracy on his throws to bag. Displayed present arm strength behind the dish as well, running it up 78 mph during drills. Left-handed hitter that hits from a slightly open stance with a high hand set, high back elbow and knee-to-knee trigger. Incorporates a pre-set hand load, good rhythm and weight shift into contact. Lofted stroke with rotational lower half mechanics and some looseness in his hands. Mostly middle-of-the field approach with ability to turn the barrel on the inner-half when necessary. Displayed strength in his and ability to create loud impact when on-time. Solid, fundamentally sound overall skill set with good feel for the game and some upside on both sides of the ball. Will continue to improve with minor refinements to his tools and additional strength. Still has some room to physically mature and expand his skill set. Excellent Student.
