Benjamin Gruodis-Gimbel is a 2020 C with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Mt. Airy, MD who attends Sandy Spring Friends HS. Compact frame with a slender build and room to fill out. Ran a 7.21 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Quick footwork when working out of the stance and to the bag. Receives out front unloading quickly. Shows some occasional carry to the bag topping out at 72 MPH and popping a 2.03 during workouts. Switch hitter with a wider stance and high hand set. Utilizes a sweeping leg lift trigger for timing. Line drive plane through the zone working softer contact to the middle of the field. Fluidity to swing. Gap to gap approach from the left side. Creates more jump from this side of the plate. Excellent student as well.
