Marcello Mastroianni is a 2023 LHP/OF with a 6-0 150 lb. frame from Little Silver, NJ who attends Ranney. Long, lean frame with highly-projectable build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.20 seconds. Primary lefthanded pitcher, creates excellent angle from extended three quarters slot, lands closed and creates crossfire action to the plate, gets over front side well, fastball worked 75-80 mph with that angle and solid life, has good feel for spinning the ball, sweeping curveball with good spin and bite, flashed changeup with fade as well, did a good job throwing strikes and projects really well. Worked out in the outfield, comes in on the ball well and fields cleanly, clocked up to 84 mph on throws. Hits from spread stance with high back elbow, handsy swing on line drive plane, shows good contact skills. Excellent student.
