2021 Rocky Mountain Workout Showcase
JT Shank is a 2023 1B/RHP, 3B, OF with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Castle Pines, CO who attends Rock Canyon. He showed good speed with a 6.96 second sixty. A primary first baseman with a larger build. At first base he showed good hands receiving the ball as well as digging balls out of the dirt on a short hop from short stop. He fields the ball with good glove presentation transferring it cleanly at the mid line before gathering it with a shuffle as the arm works long through the back making accurate throws on the double plays feeds with the ability to change his slot and throw from multiple angles. In the outfield he fields the ball deep waiting back on the ball before making a strong throw in to the bases with a higher slot doing nice job of pulling down out front and getting on top of the ball. Left-handed hitter, starts with a wider base showing the ability to leverage the baseball to the pull side. The hands get through the zone quick with a good punch at the point of contact as the ball has good jump coming off the barrel. Very good student.
