Ashton Blackwelder is a 2019 RHP/3B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Deland, FL who attends Deland HS. Recorded a 7.89 second 60-yard dash time. Large frame with broad shoulders and room to fill out. Primary righthanded pitcher with a short side step into a leg lift at the waist. Coils well over the rubber and lands online down the mound. Gets to extension well with a clean follow through. Longer arm stroke with a fastball that topped out at 80 mph. Three-quarters arm slot and and works both sides well. Curveball has tightness and depth with 11/5 shape. Righthanded hitter with a big stride into contact and a longer path. Looseness and leverage to the swing and barrels balls consistently. Looking to pull the ball hard from an uphill swing path. Good student.
