2017 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Will Frisch is a 2019 RHP/1B, 3B, OF with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Stillwater, MN who attends Stillwater. Large frame with broad shoulders and an athletic build. Projects for additional strength with continued physical maturity. Primary right handed pitcher with a smooth paced side step to leg lift delivery. Stays tall on back side at gather and utilizes lower half well while driving to the plate. Front side lands in line with the plate and carries momentum through finish well. Loose arm circle back at separation and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Generated good arm speed through the zone with a fastball that sat between 87-90 miles per hour with natural cutting action. Slider has tight rotation and good sweep with late tilt to glove side. Also showed a change up with occasional run similar to fastball in the low 80's. Aggressively attacked the zone often over powering hitters and producing consistent swing strikes and weak contact. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance and simple leg lift trigger. Lower half shifts into contact with linear actions while hands launch on a compact, direct path to baseball. Created a naturally lifted plane through extension with the present bat speed and strength to drive the ball through the gaps. Consistently squared up contact throughout batting practice on a mid-field approach, but also showed the ability to turn the barrel to contact and work to pull side with authority. Excellent student. Named to the 2017 Pitcher/Catcher Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
