Landry Wideman is a 2018 RHP/1B with a 6-6 210 lb. frame from San Antonio, TX who attends Churchill HS Extra large build, has plenty of room to mature and add strength. Works out of the stretch, third base side of the rubber creates angle to the plate, compact arm action that hides the ball well, some energy at release. Steady fastball at 86-87 mph, gets some sink down in the zone but mostly straight mid-plate, has been up to 90 mph at PG events this summer. Has a very good feel for spinning the ball, varies between curveball and slider with intent, curveball has good shape and depth, tighter spin and a shorter biting shape on the slider, commands his breaking balls well. Right handed hitter who showed some raw power with an uppercut swing approach in batting practice. Good student, verbal commitment to Texas A&M.
