Jack Straza is a 2018 RHP/OF with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Rancho Santa Fe, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. Slender young build, lots of room to get stronger. Simple side step delivery with a compact arm action and a short stride out front, tends to spin off his landing leg with a slinging 3/4's arm slot but repeats everything well and throws strikes consistently. Fastball worked up to 79 mph, gets some run and sink down in the zone. Has good feel for spinning the ball, best breaking balls are mid-60's curveballs with good depth, can also throw a tighter slider. Nice change up with feel down in the zone. Throws four pitches for strikes and has a feel for pitching. Right handed hitter, hits from a very wide base with a rotational upper body swing, handles the barrel well and makes consistent line drive contact. 7.28 runner, showed good athleticism in the outfield working through the ball with a quick release. Good athlete who will continue to improve as he gets stronger. Good student.
