Zach Laws is a 2018 3B/2B, OF, RHP, C with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Naperville, IL who attends Waubonsie Valley. Medium frame with solid, strong build and good athleticism throughout. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.12 seconds. Sets up to hit with open, wide-spread stance, high hand set. Mild hand load, leg lift timing mechanism, employs line drive swing plane with solid bat speed. Clean hand path with quick hands, gets good jump off the barrel on a line when square. Solid both in the IF and the OF defensively. Fields cleanly in the infield, moves side to side well and has quick release across with velocity up to 80 MPH. Moves to ball well in the OF with short steps, staying on balance, gets rid of the ball quickly with solid carry and accuracy up to 79 MPH. Pitched as well, shorter arm action to 3/4 slot, lands online with hips, did a good job getting fastball to both sides of the plate. FB worked 78-82 MPH with some life to the arm side. Mixed in a quality slider as well with good deception out of hand and sharp, late tilting shape. Got several swings and misses on the pitch. Good student.
