Derek Gifford is a 2019 SS/2B with a 5-10 135 lb. frame from Stephenville, TX who attends Stephenville HS. Slender young build, minimal present strength. Left handed hitter, slightly open stance with a toe-tap load, high back elbow start, short swing with an inside swing path, handles the barrel well and hits to all fields, lacks the present strength to drive the ball but has the fundamentals to keep improving. 8.00 runner, gets positioned well behind the ball, has a good transfer and release, makes accurate throws with developing arm strength, best suited for second base at present. Very good student.
