2016 PG Underclass All American Games
Ian Villers is a 2018 1B/OF/RHP with a 6-4 225 lb. frame from Walnut Creek, CA who attends Northgate HS. Big and extra strong build, pretty mature physically. Right handed hitter, rock back load with a limited stride into contact, swing in batting practice was long with big separation looking to pull and lift, shortened up nicely in games with quicker under control swing and squared the ball up, has big hitting potential if he can meld and use the approaches, has the strength to impact the ball very hard. Showed good hands and reach at first base along with plenty of raw arm strength, footwork still developing but good overall athlete. Also pitched, simple low effort delivery with a high 3/4's arm slot. Fastball topped out at 88 mph, mostly straight. Showed a nice change up, tended to slow his arm on his curveball. Strength and offensive potential make him very interesting. Good student, verbal commitment to California.
