Kevin Eichhorn is a 2008 RHP/SS with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from Aptos, CA who attends Aptos HS. He has a slender build and medium from with good athletic looseness. Eichhorn has the bloodlines as the son of former ML reliever Mark Eichhorn but throws nothing like his dad. Eichhorn throws from a moderate effort delivery and a high 3/4's release point. He threw 88-91 mph with his fastball and his best pitch was a big breaking 75 mph curveball that had depth and power. He also threw an 80 mph change up. Eichhorn has good feel for his pitches and his curveball is a difference maker. Eichhorn is a two-way prospect who has very advanced and fluid actions at shortstop. He gets rid of the ball quickly and has good footword and soft hands. Eichhorn ran the 60 in 6.87. He's a right handed hitter who hits out of an open stance with a deep wrap that leaves him a bit long to the ball and a quick, whippy swing. He hits the ball hard to all fields and will keep improving as he gets stronger. He has the tools to play both ways at a high level, although his pitching probably has the highest ceiling. He is a good student with a verbal commitment to Santa Clara.
