Robert Montes is a 2015 SS/2B with a 6-2 185 lb. frame from Miami, FL who attends Coral Gables HS. Tall, athletic, proportioned frame with more room to add strength. Shows off smooth infield actions and a plus arm across the diamond. Takes some time on the transfer but everything works easily and naturally. Has soft hands and tools to play shortstop. Bats right-handed, works from a calm setup and shows a fluid swing path. Extends well and has natural lift. Hit to the opposite field with authority in game action. Makes consistent hard contact and shows power potential and bat speed. Also took the mound for a brief outing. Worked at 87-88 mph and showed big life on his fastball with true four-seam hop. Pitches from a high three-quarter arm slot and stays downhill. Excellent student. Named to Top Prospect list.
