John Church is a 2005 RHP/3B from Lake Wales, FL. He has an extra big frame with good physical tools. He has broad shoulders and a well developed upper half, but he could tone up a bit in his middle. Church has a smooth, athletic delivery with a good leg kick and full hands over the head wind up. He throws a live, boring fastball between 84-86 mph and does a good job of maintaining velocity on the pitch. Church’s curveball was 71-72 mph and had sharp biting action to it and he also threw an occasional 79 mph change up. Church’s overall command of his three pitches was strong and consistent. With some better conditioning and normal development Church should become a 90 mph power pitcher in the future.
