Coming off a successful National Showcase, hundreds of athletes from the class of 2024 and below are set to travel to Marietta, Georgia, for the 21st annual 17u WWBA National Championship.

The East Cobb Baseball Complex and surrounding ballparks are expected to welcome 418 teams starting July 15.

On Saturday, the Canes American 17u team and Canes National 17u/NY Mets Scout team will kick off the tournament with the first game in downtown Atlanta, at the Russ Chandler Stadium, home of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

From there, teams will enter pool play, where each squad is guaranteed five games spanning over the course of five days. Following pool play, the winners from the 71 pools and 25 wildcards will advance to the round of 96 on July 21.

Last year, the Ostingers Baseball Academy 2023 team walked away with the 2022 WWBA title after defeating the Georgia Bombers 17u Marucci team, 11-3. Evan Dempsey helped lead the Ostinger offense to victory, going 4-for-4 at the plate with two singles, a double, and a grand slam.

Derek Curiel, PJ Morlando, Cade Arrambide, Michael Mullinax, Anson Seibert, and Noah Franco are all some of the top-ranked players in the class of 2024 that will be coming straight from the 2023 National Showcase.

The invitation-only event hosted by Perfect Game at Chase Field, the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, is one of the most prestigious showcases in the nation and has sent 548 former participants to the big leagues.

Throughout the week,  players were able to showcase their skills in a variety of different drills. Outfield and infield defensive work, the 60-yard dash, batting practice, and competitive games are among some of the events this highly scouted showcase offered.

Although a quick turnaround from the National Showcase, these players and teams are ready to get after it as 418 teams from around the country compete for the coveted 17U WWBA National title. More information on schedules, tournament rules, and pools can be found on the Perfect Game website.
