Starting on the mound for eXposure 17U Prime, Brady Smith (2023, Bean Station, Tenn.) was uber impressive. The right-hander sat in the 89-91 range with his heater for the most part, topping out at 93 in the first frame. Smith showcased a real feel to spin both a slider and a curveball. The slider operated at 79-82 (2700-2900 RPM) with tightness and sweep. The curveball showed more slurvy shape with more depth at 75-77 (2700-2800 RPM). He spun both with conviction as they served as out-pitches whenever he needed them. Smith also flashed an occasional low-80s changeup that was solid with subtle fade. The Virginia Tech commit is a plus athlete with standout arm speed. He still projects plenty and if his outing on Thursday was any indicator, he will have many eyes keen on him.
