Fall GA State Championship Scout Notes

Acton Smith (2023, Woodstock, Ga.) shined on the mound in the semifinals of the 2021 PG Fall Georgia State Championship. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound left-hander got the fastball up to 85 mph in the second inning and sat in the low-80’s throughout the outing. The breaking ball had 1-7 break and was landed for strikes early and often which got hitters off the fastball. The arm action is short and the ball comes out of his straight over-the-top arm slot which makes it incredibly difficult to pick up. Smith struggled to consistently throw the ball over the plate but the stuff is apparent out of the lefty. The frame is built to be on the mound with a high waist and more to come in the arm. Fun watch on the mound as he finished up allowing only one hit through his four innings and punching out six.
