Fall West Select Scout Notes

Cade Townsend (2024, Aliso Viejo, Calif.) showcased some of the best stuff in the event, if not the best stuff. The Ole Miss commit utilizes a clean, easy operation down the mound. A lightning quick arm adds some deception to the delivery, as the ball jumps out of his hand. The fastball sat 86-88 mph with slight cut action. He maintained the velocity throughout the start. The offering worked well at the top of the zone. He paired it with a sharp, low-70s curveball with 12-6 action. There is a ton of bite on the offering. It pairs well off the elevated heater, allowing him to generate whiffs often with it. The command was not there early on, but Townsend settled in well and overwhelmed hitters the rest of the way. It is an extremely impressive arm for the age that still has room for further development.
