Santiago Leija (2025, Houston, Texas) came out of the bullpen and showed off an extremely impressive arm. The right-hander uses plus athleticism throughout his delivery, allowing him to use hesitations and quick pitches to mess with the timing of hitters. It is a loose, live arm that allows the ball to jump out of his hand. The fastball sat 79-81 mph with the ability to spot it up often. He pounded the outer half on a regular occurrence. The curveball was by far and away his best offering. It sat 59-64 mph with nasty, 1-7 break. He showcased the ability to spin it extremely well creating sharp action late. Leija was confident in the offering. He was willing to throw it in any count. The two-pitch combination overpowered hitters and generated plenty of whiffs throughout the outing. The mechanics combined with the nasty pitch mix make Leija an arm to keep an eye on as he develops further.

Tate Southisene (2025, Henderson, Nev.) does not have a huge frame but the bat is still loud. On Thursday, he reached base three times while finding a barrel each time in the first game of the day. He shifts his weight well onto the backside before firing at the ball with some aggression. There is above-average bat speed there. He manages to find the barrel often and drive the ball hard. He showed off the ability to drive the ball hard to all parts of the field. He can turn on inner half pitches well while also going with pitches to the opposite field. At second base, he displayed soft hands that work through hops well. Above-average footwork gets his body in good positions to make plays consistently. It’s an impressive profile that can produce on both sides of the ball.
