Jackson Holmes (2021, Columbia, Ill.), a right-handed pitcher and St. Louis commit, threw an absolute gem for US Nationals to advance to the finals against the Georgia Bombers 17U Marucci. The 6-foot-4, 190-pound Holmes struck out 10 batters in six innings for the win against a talented Chi Town Cream squad from Glencoe, Illinois. Using a three-pitch mix from his three-quarter slot, Holmes scattered seven hits with zero walks, while pounding the zone and making big pitches from the stretch to minimize damage in allowing one earned run. His only blemish came on back-to-back doubles leading off the second inning. He consistently sat 87-90 mph on his fastball, topping out at 92 mph, with a short-breaking curveball with depth in the upper-70s. He flashed a straight change early in the game to left-handed hitters as a third offering, but mainly relied on the fastball and curveball combo in the later innings. Holmes showed the makings of a big game pitcher and came up clutch when it counted most.

Sean Sullivan (2021, Andover, Mass.) is a 6-foot-3, 185-pound left-handed pitcher who gave up only one hit over four innings for Chi Town Cream as they defeated East Cobb Yankees 18U to advance to the tournament semi-finals. Sullivan pounded the zone with a fastball that he ran up to 89 mph, sitting 85-87 mph and a sweeping breaking ball in the low-70s. He struck out seven batters and walked two, with a 66% strike rate from his cross-body delivery and low three-quarter arm slot. The Northwestern commit exited the game with a 2-0 lead before turning the ball over in the fifth inning. The tall slender left-hander commanded arm side with ease, including a changeup in the low-80s to stifle theYankees 18U batters over four shutout innings on 72 pitches.
